Module overview

A lack of professionalism at work can result in a toxic workplace environment that leads to stress, anxiety, and reduced morale among employees. Workplace Etiquette & Professional Conduct is a professional development VR training module designed to equip employees with the situational awareness and interpersonal communication skills necessary to uphold and maintain high standards of professionalism at work.

Set in a corporate office, learners must identify instances of inappropriate workplace conduct committed by fictional colleagues. Learners will then experience each instance from the perspective of someone directly involved, exploring how different responses and reactions could have prevented escalation.

Finally, learners will be tasked with intervening and responding to inappropriate workplace conduct by applying emotional regulation and conflict resolution strategies to promote empathy, understanding, and mutual respect among colleagues.

Part 1

Giving & Receiving Feedback

In this VR soft skills training experience, you’ll observe a tense interaction between your manager, Jacquie, and a coworker, Evan. Jacquie makes several insensitive comments about Evan’s work, making him feel personally attacked. Evan becomes defensive and lashes out, citing examples of Jacquie’s behavior that he takes issue with.

Your virtual coach rewinds and breaks down the interaction, prompting you to identify how Jacquie’s behavior escalated the situation and how Evan could have responded to her feedback in a calmer, more professional manner.

Part 2

Respecting Boundaries

This interpersonal skills training experiences takes place in an office bullpen where you witness a tense and heated conversation unfold between two coworkers after Evan makes an insensitive comment toward Angel.

After identifying the offensive language and behaviors from both parties that led to this uncomfortable situation, you’ll take on the role of Angel as you re-experience the same conversation from her perspective, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate how you might respond differently in order to prevent the situation from escalating.

Part 3

Socializing with Sensitivity

In this experience, you'll be tasked with responding to instances of inappropriate conduct committed by Angel and Evan during an office baby shower for Jacquie. During separate conversations with Jacquie, Angel, and Evan, you’ll be presented with multiple choice questions about how to respond to the situation.

Each scenario provides an opportunity to practice applying concepts covered in Parts 1 and 2 while light branching models the outcomes of your selected responses.
