Armed Attack

Module overview

Strivr’s Armed Attack module is a live action VR safety training simulation that equips learners with the tools, techniques, and hands-on experience necessary to safely navigate an active shooter event.

Learners will apply the 3-Out Method (Get Out, Lock Out, Take Out) in a life-like active shooter simulation set in a corporate office building. Learners will strengthen their crisis management skills by determining “outs” based on the attacker's proximity and environmental context while identifying potential threats, viable escape routes, and common office objects that can be used for self-defense along the way.

Module breakdown

Part 1

Active Shooter Simulation

You begin in a glass conference room where an instructor presents the 3-Out Method for emergency preparedness. As she concludes, a construction worker interrupts, warning of loud equipment.

The instructor dismisses the room, and you reconvene in the cubicle area. You learn that an employee was recently let go and didn’t take it well. Suddenly, a gunman enters the building and begins firing. Panic ensues, and you must apply the 3-Out Method to protect yourself and your coworkers.

10 minutes
A woman looking frightened standing with her back against a wall in a virtual reality scene with a textbox overlay asking viewers to select the objects in the room that can be used to defend oneself against an armed attacker. A bucket of paint, broom, step ladder, and hammer are highlighted.
Part 2

Reflection Survey & Assessment

After completing the active shooter simulation in Part 1, you will self-assess and reflect on your experience through a brief set of multiple-choice questions designed to help you better understand your emotional and cognitive reactions.

Reflecting on your simulated crisis training experience will help ensure that you are equipped with the necessary skills and mindset to handle similar situations in real life.

5 minutes
